Fulton County is offering several FREE Youth Summer Programs focused on Law & Government, the deadlines for which are rapidly approaching. ​

Fulton County Junior District Attorney (DA) Program
8.30AM - 3PM, Tues/Thurs or Wed/Friday
Price: FREE

Fulton County Junior DAs will meet future judges, lawyers, police chiefs and mayors while learning about the criminal justice system. Field trips include visits to the United States Attorney's Office, Georgia Supreme Court, State Capitol, 911 Call Center, GBI Crime Lab, Atlanta Mounted Horse Patrol and more. Candidates must submit an application to be considered eligible for the program.

The Fulton County Sheffiff's Junior Deputy Program teaches kids about the justice system. Junior Deputies will receive an introduction to law enforcement, learn about the various functions of the Sheriff’s Office, participate in character building and leadership skills exercises along with activities to promote mental and physical wellness. Students will receive an introduction to CPR, Code Red (fire drill simulation at the Fulton County Jail), defensive tactics demonstrations, verbal judo, proper etiquette when approached by law enforcement and physical fitness. Participants will receive a shirt and other materials. Candidates must submit an application, an essay, and a recommendation from a teacher or school administrator to be considered eligible for the program.

South Fulton Career Academy High School
Now Accepting Applications for 2018-19 School Year

Hidden behind the South Fulton Library at Flat Shoals & Banneker High School is a new, 40,000 square foot, state-of-the-art high school, training students in careers of the future.

Opened Fall 2016, the Fulton College & Career Academy pulls 10th through 12th graders from Banneker, Creekside, Langston Hughes, Tri-Cities & Westlake High Schools and immerses them in instruction for one of five "career pathways" -- Aviation, Construction, Film/TV/Audio Production, Animation & Digital Media or Culinary Arts. Students are bussed, for FREE, from their home schools to spend alternating days at the academy and off-site internships. Graduates receive certifications, college credits, scholarships & job offers!

As with other Fulton County magnet programs, students must apply to be accepted to the Career Academy.  Applications for 2018-19 School Year open December 1. For more information, contact the school directly at (470) 254-0920.

Transforming Youth, Inc.

Founded by South Fulton resident Chris Bazemore, Transforming Youth, Inc is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization created to expose, educate, and encourage youth ages 12-17 to achieve excellence in their personal and professional development. Sessions held every 1st, 3rd & 5th Saturday from 8-12 at Creel Park​, cover:
  • Biblical Principles, using Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Successful People 
  • Conflict Meditation
  • One-on-One Mentoring
  • Educational Field Trips
  • Reading & Language Arts
  • Developing Post Secondary (College, Technical School, Trade) Plans
  • Encouraging Entrepreneurship

From Boyz 2 Men #JustDad Project

Partnering with Child Support Services and Georgia State University's School of Social Work, From Boyz 2 Men Inc.'s #JustDad program goes beyond simply getting fathers to pay child support to getting fathers back in their children's lives. FREE, 14-week sessions start each month that teach co-parenting, child psychology, and tools for non-custodial fathers to navigate legal barriers to seeing their children.

Next Level Boys Academy

Located on Shannon Parkway off Flat Shoals Road, the Next Level Boys Academy is a nonprofit with an after-school program, summer camp and Saturday morning mentoring sessions that connect at-risk boys with successful, Black men. Dynamic founder Gary Davis conducts intake sessions with young men at Rice Street, YDC & Dekalb county jails, often negotiationg participation in Next Level's Saturday Diversion Program as a condition of their probation & release.
