America’s first BlackLivesMatter activist elected Mayor, and the first Socialist Mayor of large, American city in nearly a century, Mayor khalid's vision for government takes a more active role to address structural inequalities in predominantly African-American communities like South Fulton. “If Black communities are challenged with undervalued homes, under-capitalized businesses, and under-resourced young people, we have to talk about that,” says the young Mayor. “And if those conditions are the result of government policies, then government should do something about it.”
Those attending the Town Hall are encouraged to purchase these books beforehand from Medu, Shrine of Black Madonna, Nubian or their local Black bookseller. Copies will be available at the event, and the authors will be available afterward to autograph copies. |

South Fulton's New Citywide Trash Service
South Fulton's City Council has chosen one trash company (WastePro) for all residents. This allows the City to collectively bargain for a monthly rate of $19.43 (less than most residents currently pay). However, the amount will be billed annually from the Fulton County Tax Commissioner, at a total of $233. In addition to weekly trash pickup, South Fulton now offers monthly collection of Bulky Trash items.
