America’s first BlackLivesMatter activist elected Mayor, and the first Socialist Mayor of large, American city in nearly a century, Mayor khalid's vision for government takes a more active role to address structural inequalities in predominantly African-American communities like South Fulton. “If Black communities are challenged with undervalued homes, under-capitalized businesses, and under-resourced young people, we have to talk about that,” says the young Mayor. “And if those conditions are the result of government policies, then government should do something about it.”
A result of twelve years of quantitative and qualitative research, Dr. DeGruy developed her theory of Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, publishing her findings in the book
Dr. Joy DeGruy's seminal work on the continuing, psychological impact on America's mass enslavement of Black people, Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, has been cited psychological journals over 1000 times.

RACIST HISTORY of RUNOFF ELECTIONS
In 1962, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional Georgia's County Unit System — designed to weight rural, white votes more heavily  — state legislator Denmark Groover proposed the Runoff System to give white candidates an advantage in elections with multiple candidates.
